When you type, “how to start your wellness journey and keep it going” into google you usually get articles on how people got started and what they are doing to stay on their wellness journey right??

However no one seems to tell you the honest truth of the setbacks that come with this journey.

Well that’s why I’m here!

The Truth

I’ll tell you, I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) a few years ago. With finding out the reason behind my abnormal cycles, my OB-GYN decided to put me on Birth Control to help regulate my cycle. I was once on birth control before, but decided to take myself off (because I’m a doctor right haha) because I was getting bad headaches. Being on this new birth control prescribed to me, it only added unto my weight problems and my cycle would last longer than normal.

So this brought me to research veganism/ plant based lifestyles, I learned a lot both good and bad and decided to try it out myself to see how I would react to the change.

The Transition

When first starting you don’t realize how much meat, and dairy you consume until you take it out of your diet. I started feeling more energized, and the weight began to drop off. The biggest positive result from changing what I put in my body was, my cycle being normal again!!

A year past and I was happy with my results, but honestly it takes a lot to be vegan/ plant based and I wanted something different. So I started slowly incorporating meat and dairy back into my diet to make sure nothing would get thrown off balance.

Till this day I still use almond milk, and I only do dairy (cheese & eggs) twice a week, however I usually have meet 3x (chicken or turkey) a week for my dinner.

It would be easy to blame all of my weight gain on birth control, but the reality of it is I’m a foodie!!

In the end it didn't matter how much I was working out, how different my lifestyle was, it all came down to what I had been putting into my body years prior and on my cheat days.

The Journey..

My true wellness journey started when I decided to try Herbalife Nutrition, best decision ever! Of course I’d highly recommend having an accountability partner but the results that came on this journey have been game changers. My coach is a great friend of mine and meeting her truly changed the way I view wellness!

I’ll be showing before and after pictures once I reach my body goals and updating you along the way, in the meantime subscribe and reflect with me!
